Fighting devastation, can you help?

The world’s a big place. As ordinary human beings we feel minuscule. If we do not have the power that someone high up has, for example a prime minister, we feel tiny, defenseless, useless, unimportant, like an insignificant drop in the ocean. The question is, can we do something to stop the crisis of the millennia from getting worse? Can you, a single person striving to do the right thing make a change? A real change? A heroic change? A change that could save a whole planet from being devoured by a creature of devastation, a man made monster of pollution? In other words, what can you do to save Mother Earth?

To be entirely truthful you can’t save the world alone. Think of all those incredible superhero movies, the ones you watch over and over until you can quote them line by line; the Avengers, Iron Man, Spider-man etc, etc. Let’s just say I could name the entire Marvel universe but that’s not what you want to hear, you’ve clicked on this post because you want to make a difference and that’s an admirable thing. Anyway, all I’m trying to say is superheroes don’t work alone. They always need their friends to save the world and so will you.

Have you heard the quote “it’s only one straw, said eight billion people.”? This quote shows that although people think that it’s only one straw they don’t realize that if the whole world thought the same way there would be 8 billion more straws polluting the ocean. So, don’t think you’re alone in being an Eco warrior, you may not hear about other people fighting for the planet but it doesn’t mean they’re not there. Enough about that, you want to know what you can do.

The main point I want to cover in this post is about saving our burning lungs, you know, the Amazon. Fires are raging all over the natural wonder causing devastation to habitats and areas of beauty, so it’s a pretty awful situation. If you want to know more, read our previous post “burning beauty”. This catastrophe needs to be stopped quickly so here are a few ideas to help contribute to saving this treasure trove of natural marvels:

1.Donating:

There are many emergency funds being created for the Amazon. Raising millions to give a ray of hope to this incredible place. You can easily find these funds on the internet and on social media. By donating you can help out the planet and also get that lovely warm tingling feeling you get when you know you’ve done something good.

2.Spread the word:

Why not show your support on social media. Instead of sharing selfies why not be different to the crowd and post about the things that really matter. Show people you really care by posting pictures of the devastation and maybe you could even share this post. You’re free to share any of our blog posts you think interesting.

3.Petitions, petitions, petitions:

Why not sign a few petitions. Make sure they’re the real deal though.Don’t go signing petitions you don’t think are genuine. Why not sign this one by wwf https://www.wwf.org.uk/save-the-amazon./ friends of the earth have a good one to.

4.Sustainable living:

Finally you could try and eat more sustainably by keeping your diet more plant based adding more veggies, nuts and beans to your daily intake. Be a smart shopper by bringing your reusable shopping bag and buy loose food if possible. Buying loose isn’t always possible so try and find food with the smallest amount of packaging and recycle everything you can. Try eating less processed food as processed food generally uses more resources.
