Surfers Against Sewage
Surfers Aginst Sewage (SAS) was created in 1990 by a group of Cornish surfers off the Northern coast of Cornwall. The group was created to improve water quality. By now there are 20,000+ members of Surfers Agains Sewage and this number is still growing.
In recent water reports SAS have reported that water companies are failing miserably with keeping pollution events at bay, risking countless animals, environments and putting humans health in jeopardy.
1784 sewage pollution events have occurred along the UK coastline according to a recent report from SAS.
Southern Water is one of the big offenders with fines of £126 million for devastating problems with their sewage treatment work and responsibility for over 571 sewage pollution event this year. 80% of water pollution events occur between October and May, just before and after summer.
The Creature was written and directed by Tom Tagholm and produced by Park Pictures, in partnership with Surfers Against Sewage. The short 3.09 minute video was released on the 1st of May 2019, and was created to show how mankind is affecting and destroying our climate. The creature is washed up on the beach and died due to a plastic filled stomach. Surfers Against Sewage have even taken The Creature outside Parliment to prove a point.
